Two women are huddled together in the background, and a soldier carrying a spear with "INRI" on a plaque is gesturing them on. "V. Simon le Cyreneen aide Jesus a porter sa Croix." is printed at the bottom - or, 'Simon the Cyreneen helps Jesus carry his cross.'
