Description
Pianos and other instruments are visible in this view of the display room of the Harger & Blish music store. One man is may be seen standing behind a glass display counter. Violins, mandolins, tamborines and clarinets are visible in a glass display case behind the counter. Round, adjustable stools are placed in front of the keyboards of the pianos. Brocade covers have been placed over the tops of the cases of the pianos, and sheet music is visible on the music rack of the piano in the foreground of the photograph. The number “224” has been written on the emulsion side of the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the picture. The number “3” has been written in the upper left corner.

Although not visible in this photograph, the 1912 Dubuque City Directory also lists this business as selling typewriters, books, stationery, phonographs and office supplies. A branch store is listed with an address of 1366 Clay Street, in Dubuque.
