Description

This image shows a hairpin curve in a steep residential street. The photographer’s notes indicate that this street in in the vicinity of Angella Street in Dubuque, Iowa. The street surface appears to be hard packed gravel. The sides of the street are lined with concrete gutters. A tall retaining wall constructed of native limestone supports the ascending portion of the street. A metal guard rail is attached to the retaining wall. A small vehicle appears to be beginning its ascent of the street. The number 1290-b is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.
