Description

This image shows a newly constructed model home on Kirkwood Avenue. These "model homes" were constructed using all local materials and featured some of the first modern electrical systems in private residences. The residence is a story and a half in height, with a square, two story tower and a dormer behind the front porch. A wrought iron balcony may be seen below the second story tower window. The roof line is heavily sculpted. A covered porch extends along the front of the home, and a sun room, also displaying a sculped roof line, extends from the west side of the residence. A curved sidewalk extends from the street to the front porch. The front and side yards have been carefully landscaped with low shrubbery. A large tree is visible behind the home. In 2016, this home was owned by Loras College and used as a guest house. The number 1264 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.
