Description

"Saint Benedict Parish was established in 1857 with Father Edmund Farrell as resident pastor. He directed the building of a log church near the present Bluffton church. Later Father Clement Lowery supervised the building of a limestone church in which Mass was first celebrated in 1864. Father Lowery lived in the basement. The next April the parish observed “funeral services on the death of Lincoln.”
