Black smoke is billowing from twin smoke stacks of a large passenger steamboat anchored near the Mississippi River shore. The photographer has identified the vessel as the Sidney. Two figures are visible in the pilot house. Several flag poles and a large bell are visible on the upper deck. Life boats may also be seen hanging from launching equipment on the upper deck. Several individuals are standing on the lowest deck. A loading ramp, stored in the upright position, is also visible. The number 1294 is written on a label that has been stuck to the lower left corner of the slide.
